I enjoy making the ordinary precious and by working on cardboard and then framing the work it is elevated to a new level. The folds, rips, labels and tape become part of the piece.

According to Maori oral traditions, whales guided waka to Aotearoa and the ancestor, Paikea, is said to have arrived on one. The season when whales migrate south coincides with the appearance of the stars and planets most useful for navigating to New Zealand.
